Karl Fischer reaction is pH dependent, with pH 5-7.5 being the ideal range. Strongly acidic samples slow the reaction, while strong alkaline samples cause no end point. Both types of samples must be neutralized prior to titration. Hydranal™-Buffer Acid and Hydranal-Buffer Base are ready-to-use liquid buffer media solving that problem. Hydranal is offering a wide range of additional Karl Fischer titration products, including buffers to neutralize acidic or basic samples to reach ideal pH-value or suppress side reactions.
