Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) chemicals- also known as “forever chemicals” have been a topic of research recently due to their high stability in our environment and food chain. Regulatory control of these species in our environment continues to accelerate. Analysis of PFAS can be challenging due to the large number and variety of types of PFAS chemicals. To achieve the best results of PFAS analysis, it is recommended that Gas Chromatography (GC) with Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry (TOFMS) methods are used.

Abstract

This application snapshot focuses on the rapidly expanding area of PFAS analysis and highlights how screening for known PFAS targets, as well as discovering and identifying unknown PFAS chemicals, can be performed using high-performance GCTOFMS.
