Analysis of essential oils using two-dimensional GC and high‑resolution MS

In this note, a method for analyzing essential oils using several comprehensive GC × GC configurations with a reverse flow modulator (RFM) is described. Essential oil components were reliably identified using the unknowns analysis tool, and Agilent Mass Profiler Professional (MPP) software successfully determined differences in chemical composition.

Estimation of methyl bromide residues in food

An Agilent 8890 GC, coupled with an Agilent 8697 headspace sampler and Agilent 7010 triple quadrupole GC/MS, was used to detect and quantify methyl bromide residues. An LOQ of 5 ng/g was achieved in rice, cumin powder, and red chili powder matrices, and average recoveries ranged from 85 to 116%.
