The Analytical Scientist, in collaboration with LECO Corporation, Restek, Axel Semrau and GL Sciences, introduces the GC-MS Application Challenge. We invite those working in the GC-MS space to submit your best application notes for the chance to win some exciting prizes. Are you up to the challenge?

Top prizes
Winners will be selected by our panel of expert judges in each of the following three categories:

  • Best novel application – supported by LECO
    Prize: the choice of: a sponsored (all expenses paid, up to $3,000) visit to LECO’s facility where the winner will present their application findings to a panel and have the opportunity to run their application work in LECO’s lab; OR a sponsored (up to $3,000) visit to a mass spectrometry conference, where the winner will present their application findings; OR a $3,000 discount on a LECO instrument.

  • Excellence in chromatography – supported by Restek
    Prize: Restek consumables worth $3,000.

  • Creative use of application workflows, sample prep & automation – supported by Axel Semrau
    Prize: the choice of: a sponsored (all expenses paid, up to $3,000) visit to Axel Semrau’s facility, where the winner will present their application findings to a panel and have the opportunity to run their application work in Axel Semrau’s lab; OR a sponsored (up to $3,000) visit to a mass spectrometry conference, where the winner will present their application findings; OR a $3,000 discount on an Axel Semrau instrument.

  • Special recognition – supported by GL Sciences
    Prize: university entries will be eligible for a special recognition prize: a GL Sciences leak detector.

*Top-prize winners will also be featured in an article published in The Analytical Scientist’s April, 2023, ASMS issue

  • Application excellence
    Prize: three entrants will be awarded $500 Amazon vouchers for excellence in specific application areas.
  • Runners-up prizes 
    Prize: six $250 Amazon vouchers are also up for grabs.

Terms of competition:
"By entering this competition, you are agreeing to the Analytical Scientist, Axel Samrau, GL Sciences, LECO and Restek to communicate with you regarding this competition."

The rules?
 

Application notes must be presented in the form of a written document of no more than 2,500 words, with a maximum of six figures. Additional requirements are listed on the submission page.
