Q-Exactive - Quantitation/Qualitative Analysis in R&D

Abstract

Historically, within Syngenta quantitative and qualitative LC-MS analysis have been performed in parallel. Last year the Q-E was purchased to support cross-functional quan/qual projects with diverse applications throughout R&D. The instrument is enabling Syngenta to maximum information gained from a single injection. Therefore, streamlining experiments and sample collection while using the instruments specificity to reduce ‘false’ positives. Matching QQQ sensitivity and dynamic range while providing High Resolution Accurate Mass (HR/AM) performance with ion mode switching and fast scan rates. This presentation will discuss examples of successful applications of the Q-E to generate data for our active ingredients in complex biological extracts. Specifically, to establish workflows employing Full Scan with ‘All-Ion Fragmentation’ (FS-AIF) to aid visualisation of metabolites. Also attempts to address the current challenges of automation and ease of operation for fragment ion searching to identify components.
