In another life… I would be hunting dinosaur fossils in Wyoming!
Heroes? I have many heroes and mentors through the years. In addition to Fred Menger, my PhD advisor who taught me physical organic chemistry, Mary Jane Mattina and Al Thruston taught me most of what I know about mass spectrometry. And I would like to give a special shout-out to Sam Karickhoff, who was a great mentor to me at the US EPA. He was the one who created the log KOW concept and the SPARC chemical prediction model. He taught me how to put my mind in the mind of a chemical.
