Research topics include: analysis of dioxin-like and other persistent toxic organics, including halogenated flame retardants, perfluorinated compounds and industrial chemicals using advanced analytical techniques; determination of the fate, transport, and spatial and temporal trends of persistent toxic organics in a variety of environmental matrices; identification and detection of unknown halogenated and persistent organics in the environment; development of analytical methods for new and emerging organics using a variety of instrumentation – including automation and prescreening procedures to increase analytical throughput and reduce costs; and development of materials and procedures for performance evaluation and quality control testing.
